Arman Tsarukyan Reveals Heaviest Off-Season Weight When Not in Fight Camp
UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan recently offered a candid look into his diet and weight management, contrasting his disciplined approach during fight camps with his more relaxed habits in the off-season. He revealed the peak weight he reaches when not actively preparing for a bout.
Tsarukyan explained that when he is in a fight camp, he benefits from having a personal chef who helps him maintain a strict and healthy diet. His typical meals include eggs or yogurt with granola for breakfast, pasta for lunch, and fish or meat accompanied by vegetables for dinner. However, once outside of a training camp, Tsarukyan admits to enjoying a much less restrictive diet, indulging in whatever he desires.
“When I am in camp, I have a chef… [For breakfast,] I eat eggs or yogurt with granola. All healthy. For lunch, pasta, and for dinner, fish or meat with vegetables. And when I am not in camp or on a diet, I eat what I want to eat. Right now I eat everything… Burgers, too. I like more meat, steaks, BBQ, fried chicken… I like Sushi as well.”
Tsarukyan's Off-Season Weight Challenges
During the same discussion, Arman Tsarukyan disclosed that his weight can escalate significantly during the off-season, sometimes surpassing the typical weight of a middleweight fighter. He stated that maintaining his 155-pound lightweight division weight becomes considerably challenging from this higher base.
“[In the off-season] I weigh 86-87 kgs. It’s like 190 [pounds]. And then it’s difficult to come down, you have to cut so much weight. It is like 35 pounds.”
Despite often reaching nearly 190 pounds when not in camp, Tsarukyan has previously expressed aspirations to potentially move down to the featherweight division (145 pounds) to challenge a champion like Alexander Volkanovski.
Currently, Tsarukyan does not have a scheduled UFC bout. He has expressed interest in serving as a backup fighter for a potential lightweight title unification bout. If he is not called upon as a replacement, he anticipates that his next fight will be announced following a major upcoming event.
