Former UFC title contender Anthony Smith has successfully returned to the winner's circle, decisively defeating Octagon veteran Chase Sherman in the main event of Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA on Friday.
Smith established control early, utilizing his jab and landing a significant left hand before securing the decisive takedown after catching one of Sherman's kicks. Once on the ground, the finish seemed inevitable.
The end came when Sherman gave up his back on the canvas, allowing Smith to flatten him out and lock in an uncontested rear-naked choke, forcing Sherman to tap out quickly.
Official Result: Anthony Smith defeated Chase Sherman via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:28 of Round 1.
This victory marks Smith's first since his May 2024 submission win over Vitor Petrino and snaps a three-fight losing streak, following his departure from the UFC last year. His first contest in bare-knuckle MMA proved to be a successful one.
