Olympiacos Continues to Strengthen

Olympiacos is determined to achieve a back-to-back championship. The Piraeus club, already a winner of the Euroleague and the national championship, has added another trophy to its collection by winning the Greek Super Cup. On Monday, the Athens management announced two new signings.

Both new additions are former players of the club. First, the signing of American-Greek guard George Papas was confirmed. Since leaving Olympiacos in 2024, Papas remained in Greece, playing for four different clubs over the past three seasons.

Standing at 1.96 meters, a notable height for a combo guard, the NCAA-trained player spent last season with Panionios, where he competed in the EuroCup, and then moved to Maroussi. At Maroussi, he averaged 6.7 points and 2.2 assists per game.

A Final Challenge for Bryant Dunston

Following Papas' signing, the European champions announced the return of Bryant Dunston. At 40 years old, the veteran big man returns to the club where he first played in the Euroleague during the 2013/14 season. His contract is set to run until the end of the season, signaling what appears to be a 'last dance' for the center.

Dunston has had a distinguished career, most notably his eight seasons with Anadolu Efes. With Efes, he won back-to-back Euroleague titles in 2021 and 2022 and secured three Turkish championships (2019, 2021, 2023). In recent seasons, his role diminished, but he continued to play in the Euroleague, notably with Virtus Bologna in 2023-24, Zalgiris Kaunas (Lithuanian champions in 2025), and Milan last season.

The Piraeus club is defending the European title won on May 24th at the Final Four in Athens, where Evan Fournier was named MVP. However, they lost the final of the inaugural Euroleague Super Cup, falling to Real Madrid (93-89) on September 19th in Abu Dhabi. This summer, Olympiacos had already recruited Jean Montero from Valencia and Mbaye Ndiaye from ASVEL.
