UFC London Hit by Last-Minute Bout Cancellation After Massive Weight Miss
The UFC London fight card has been reduced by one bout just a day before the event. The upcoming Fight Night is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, at The O2 Arena in London, England. The main event is a crucial featherweight clash, widely considered a title eliminator, featuring top-ranked Movsar Evloev against the No. 3 contender Lerone Murphy.
During Friday’s official weigh-ins for UFC London, Luana Carolina weighed in at 144 pounds, an alarming eight pounds over the 136-pound non-title limit for her scheduled bantamweight fight against Melissa Mullins. Mullins, in contrast, had successfully made weight moments earlier, registering exactly 136 pounds.
Following the significant weight discrepancy, the UFC ultimately decided to cancel the bout after the official weigh-ins.
Shortly after the cancellation, Mullins took to Instagram to express her disappointment. She revealed that both she and Carolina had initially agreed to proceed with the fight despite the weight difference, but the commission intervened and called off the bout, citing regulatory concerns.
Melissa "No Mess" Mullins was set to compete at UFC London following a unanimous decision loss to Daria Zhelezniakova at UFC Baku in June 2025. The 34-year-old Coventry native currently holds a 2-2 record in the UFC and a 7-2 professional record overall.
Meanwhile, Luana Carolina was last in action at UFC Perth in September, where her three-fight winning streak was snapped by a unanimous decision loss to Michelle Montague. The 32-year-old Brazilian currently has a 6-4 record within the UFC.
Carolina has developed a problematic history of missing weight during her UFC career, having failed to make weight on three previous occasions. Her first instance occurred in 2021 before her split decision win over Poliana Botelho. She then missed the flyweight limit again at UFC Vegas 85 in February 2024 for her fight against Julija Stoliarenko. In March 2025, her scheduled bout with Montana De La Rosa at UFC Vegas 113 was also called off after she was unable to make it to the scale due to a difficult weight cut.
