Daniel Cormier Backs Jon Jones Over UFC White House Card Snub: "He Seemed Crushed"
Daniel Cormier, a former two-division UFC champion, expressed sympathy for his long-standing rival, Jon Jones, following the UFC's decision not to include Jones in the highly anticipated White House card.
Jones had recently requested a release from the UFC, implying he felt undervalued, and refuted Dana White's assertion that he was not involved in discussions for a potential fight on June 14th.
Jones took to social media to state that he and his team were indeed in negotiations with the UFC regarding the event, contrary to White's claims. He revealed to fans that he had been preparing for the White House event, even undergoing stem cell treatment for arthritis to facilitate his training. However, he ultimately stated that a "lowball offer" was the reason he was not featured on the card.
A visibly frustrated Jon Jones later expressed his anger during an Instagram live session, conveying deep disappointment.
Despite their historically contentious rivalry, "DC" (Daniel Cormier) offered an unexpected show of support for Jones concerning the UFC White House card dispute, commenting:
“I felt a degree of sympathy for Jon because it was clear he desperately wanted to compete on that card. He appeared truly devastated, remarking, ‘He seemed crushed. He’s laying in bed, and he’s crushed.’ I believe this represents a significant moment of realization for him.”
Jake Paul Invites Jon Jones to Most Valuable Promotions Amidst UFC Frustration
Following the recruitment of fighters like Francis Ngannou, Philipe Lins, Ronda Rousey, and Gina Carano to his Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) roster, Jake Paul has now set his sights on Jon Jones.
This comes as MVP recently announced a card featuring Francis Ngannou vs. Philipe Lins, and Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano, set to be the first-ever MMA event on Netflix.
During a press conference for the Rousey vs. Carano event, Paul was questioned about his interest in signing "Bones" to MVP for an MMA bout, should Jones part ways with the UFC. The 29-year-old entrepreneur responded:
“Jon, you are always welcome at MVP. We will ensure you receive the compensation you truly merit.”
