Victor Wembanyama Injured Ahead of Playoffs
Concern in Texas! As his very first NBA playoff campaign approaches, Spurs star Victor Wembanyama left the court with a rib injury during his team's 115-102 victory over the 76ers. The incident occurred after a mid-court collision with Paul George, as both players vied for possession of the ball.
His coach, Mitch Johnson, could not provide an update on his condition after the game. However, he noted an encouraging sign: Wemby briefly returned to the court after the impact before definitively heading back to the bench.
Given the Spurs' cautious approach to managing their superstar, it would not be surprising if they chose to rest Victor for the remainder of the regular season. Such a decision, however, could render him ineligible for end-of-season awards, as he has currently played only 64 of the 65 required games to qualify for individual accolades.
