Bandja Sy: "Nadir Hifi Has the Talent to Play in the NBA"
Bandja Sy is currently averaging 9.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in the Romanian league.
Sy explained his move to Oradea as a personal decision, driven by a desire to contribute his knowledge and experience to an ambitious club. He stated, "I have a more significant role here and I'm genuinely enjoying it. The club has clear aspirations, and I'm pleased to help them achieve those. I have no regrets about departing from the Euroleague."
The Parisian-born player also reflected on his time with Brazilian coach Tiago Splitter, who transitioned to the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers following a standout season with Paris Basketball.
Sy remarked on his positive experience under Splitter's guidance: "It was fantastic playing for him. He's a young coach with a distinguished playing career, having won both individual and team accolades. I'm confident he'll never forget our French Cup and league victories in his inaugural year. We truly shared some incredible moments, both on and off the court. Our team was in peak condition; he understood precisely what each player required, and we achieved a perfect balance throughout the season. He maintained a strong rapport with the players, and the excellent communication, I believe, was a major factor in our success. Now that he's in the NBA, I'm sure his current players are delighted to be under his leadership."
Bandja also offered high praise for two other notable players: Nadir Hifi and TJ Shorts.
"Nadir Hifi is, without a doubt, one of the most dedicated and hardworking players I've encountered; his work ethic is flawless," Sy stated. "He never cuts corners and is constantly striving to enhance every facet of his game. His commitment to physical care and overall professionalism is essential. In my view, he possesses the talent required to play in the NBA. As for TJ Shorts, while I may not be the most qualified to assess the specifics of his choices, I can confidently say that, alongside Victor Wembanyama, he stands as the finest player I've ever had the pleasure of competing with. His exceptional court vision, leadership qualities, scoring prowess, ability to engage teammates, and knack for stepping up in critical situations are all remarkable attributes. His performance over the past three seasons truly speaks volumes."
