UFC President Dana White has sharply criticized fighter Jon Jones, labeling him “completely unreliable.” This strong statement comes amidst Jones’s public claims regarding his absence from a potential White House fight card on June 14th.
Jones had expressed a desire to be part of the June event, but after his name was not included in the official bout list, he alleged that the UFC offered him a significantly low sum. He further claimed to have been in negotiations for a White House fight and had also undergone stem cell treatment for hip arthritis, preparing for a training camp. However, he stated that a lowball offer derailed his plans and prevented him from competing.
The fighter, also known as “Bones,” has recently hinted at retirement but left the door open for future possibilities, though his immediate focus is on coaching his protégé, Gable Steveson, for his upcoming debut during International Fight Week.
Previously, Dana White had asserted that Jon Jones was never considered for the White House card. White’s current stance is that Jones’s fighting career is over, attributing it to hip arthritis that has forced him to retire.
Dana White’s Latest Remarks on Jon Jones
In a recent interview with WFAN Sports Radio, White reiterated his position. He explained that after contacting fighters for the White House card, matchmakers presented all potential matchups. According to White, Jon Jones fighting on June 14th was never a viable option.
“Jon Jones is completely unreliable. As much as Jon talks, Jon was not a possibility on the White House card.”
