Western Conference Finals: Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs Tie the Series 2-2

Sports News

Following a historic Game 1, Victor Wembanyama’s production dipped in Games 2 and 3, and the Spurs desperately needed more from him to avoid a 3-1 deficit. Wembanyama delivered, scoring a game-high 33 points, grabbing eight rebounds, dishing out five assists, blocking three shots, and recording two steals.

“I don’t know if I’m too hard on myself, but we all have high expectations, and I know I have a lot of responsibilities. But I’m ready to take them on,” Wembanyama stated. “It was our first time being down. We just reacted. Nothing extraordinary. No magic. We just did what was necessary. This series is far from over. We still need six wins before we can rest.”

Oklahoma City committed 20 turnovers for only the second time this season and the first time in these playoffs. This allowed the Spurs to get out in transition and score 25 points. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led Oklahoma City with 19 points on 6-of-15 shooting. No other Thunder player scored more than Isiah Hartenstein’s 12 points.

Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday night into Thursday. Teams that win Game 5 of a best-of-7 series tied 2-2 go on to win the series 81.8% of the time.
