Uros Medic will finally make his long-awaited professional appearance on Serbian soil. The UFC announced last month that it will host its inaugural event in the Slavic nation, with a Fight Night card titled UFC Belgrade scheduled for August 1 at the Belgrade Arena. This announcement immediately fueled anticipation for local stars like Medic to feature prominently, especially after he actively lobbied for the UFC to bring an event to Serbia.
Now, “The Doctor” is poised to fulfill that vision, securing a main event appearance in his hometown for a historic night for the promotion.
Uros Medic vs. Daniel Rodriguez Scheduled for UFC Belgrade Main Event
On Monday, the MMA organization confirmed that Uros Medic is slated to headline UFC Belgrade in a welterweight showdown against fellow Dana White’s Contender Series alumnus Daniel Rodriguez. The matchup was initially reported by MMA journalist Marcel Dorff.
Medic enters the fight on a three-fight winning streak, coming off a spectacular knockout victory over veteran Geoff Neal at UFC Houston in February. The 33-year-old Serbian fighter’s last defeat occurred in January 2025, when he was stopped in the first round by Punahele Soriano at UFC Vegas 101.
“The Doctor” boasts a 7-3 record within the UFC, with notable knockout wins against Muslim Salikhov, Gilbert Urbina, and Tim Means. Medic’s professional record stands at 13-3 overall, with all of his victories coming by way of finish.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez last competed at UFC 318 in July 2025, where he secured a unanimous decision win against Kevin Holland. Following that victory, the 39-year-old Californian revealed he had been detained in Mexico for several months after allegedly crossing the border with marijuana.
“D-Rod” is currently on a three-fight winning streak and holds a 10-4 record in the UFC. His overall professional record is 20-5, with significant wins over Santiago Ponzinibbio, Li Jingliang, and Kevin Lee.
