Following her French championship victory with Basket Landes and a period of rest, Leïla Lacan is set to join the WNBA with the Connecticut Sun, currently last in the standings (15th, with 1 win and 6 losses). She will not participate in the Wonderligue or Euroleague. Instead, she has chosen to join the Project B league, the specifics of which are still emerging.
Project B is anticipated to feature six teams playing in the traditional five-on-five format, with each team having eleven players. The season will consist of seven two-week tournaments held across Europe (Valencia is confirmed), Asia, and Latin America. The inaugural season is slated to commence in November 2026 and conclude in April 2027.
Prominent players such as Nneka Ogwumike, Jonquel Jones, Sophie Cunningham, and Juste Jocyte are reportedly attached to the league, with substantial salaries potentially reaching up to two million dollars annually.
Project B also has plans to launch a men’s league, though this remains to be confirmed.
