Nikola Jokic: "I Will Never Play in Europe!"
The Serbian superstar, who briefly played in Europe with Mega Basket from 2012 to 2015, stated in an interview with X&O that his sole focus is to contribute at the highest level with his current team.
"I will play for as long as I can. Not just for as long as I am physically able to play, but also as long as I consider myself a player who brings an advantage to his team and performs at the highest level."
Nikola Jokic is currently in his 10th season with the Nuggets. During his tenure, he has already led the Colorado team to an NBA championship title and secured three MVP awards, and he intends to remain there for as long as possible.
"I will never play in Europe! I have nothing against the EuroLeague or European basketball, but I don't think that will ever change. I wouldn't want to play anywhere else but Denver. I've found peace here. My family and loved ones are here. I've built my life and home here, and I'm happy to be in Denver. I neither want nor need to leave. We've accomplished great things together as a team. Even if we hadn't won anything, I still wouldn't have left."
Jokic's current contract averages $59 million per season and runs until the summer of 2028, including a player option for a final year. The Nuggets are expected to offer him an extension, which Jokic has expressed willingness to accept.
