NHL Rumors: Ovechkin, Pronger, Jenner, Tavares, and Barkov

NHL News

Alex Ovechkin has expressed hope that he has not played his final NHL game, leaving the door slightly ajar for his future in the league. “I hope it’s not my last game. I don’t know what’s going to happen. So, we’ll see,” Ovechkin stated.

Chris Pronger, currently promoting his book, has been the subject of speculation regarding potential management positions with NHL teams. However, Pronger has indicated that no team has yet contacted him about such opportunities.

Regarding his future with the Columbus Blue Jackets, pending UFA forward Boone Jenner has deferred the decision to his agent and the team’s management. “It’s between my agent and Don. Let them sort that out,” Jenner commented. He did, however, express his deep appreciation for playing for the organization and its fans, calling it “truly an honor to put (the jersey) on and be a Blue Jacket.”

In international hockey news, Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares has indicated his willingness to play for Team Canada at the upcoming World Championships. Additionally, Florida Panthers forward Aleksander Barkov may join Team Finland. Barkov, who has been sidelined all year with a knee injury, could use the tournament as a chance to get back into game action after being out since September.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are preparing for their end-of-season exit interviews, which will be conducted in two separate sessions. One set will involve assistant GMs Brandon Pridham and Ryan Hardy, while the other will be with head coach Craig Berube. While Berube’s future with the team has been a topic of discussion, it appears he is safe for the time being, though management’s future direction remains a point of interest.
