Euroleague Imposes €3 Million Fine on Panathinaikos, ASVEL Also Penalized

Sports News

Panathinaikos has received the largest penalty, with a substantial fine of €3,065,691.

Other clubs have also been fined: Anadolu Efes Istanbul faces a €1,071,676 penalty, Hapoel Tel Aviv €998,027, and Olympiacos Piraeus €303,290.

The total sum of €5,438,684 will be distributed equally among the 15 clubs that have met the established financial benchmarks, resulting in €362,579 for each of these clubs.

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, on the other hand, did not meet the minimum salary cap set by the Competitive Balance Regulations following the 29th round of the regular season. As the club also failed to meet this threshold on the first day of the season, it is required to distribute a total of €1,280,924 to its registered players. This amount represents the difference between player salaries for the season and the fixed salary floor for the 2025-26 season. Furthermore, the club has been sanctioned by the Financial Panel for late payments related to the non-compliance with the salary floor on the first day and the distribution of the corresponding delta to registered players, as well as for failing to provide the required documentation. ASVEL has been fined €25,000 and is prohibited from registering new players and coaches until all late payments are settled.
