Conor McGregor’s Impending Return: Knockouts and Comebacks

MMA News

As July draws near, former UFC double champion Conor McGregor has been sharing new training photos, signaling his eagerness to compete again. After a five-year break, McGregor is rumored to make his highly anticipated comeback during International Fight Week at UFC 329 on July 11th. The full fight card for this event has yet to be announced, and fans may need to wait until after UFC 328 for more details.

In the meantime, McGregor, who has been the most tested fighter in 2026, is reportedly pushing himself intensely in training sessions, as evidenced by videos shared on his social media. He recently posted pictures of himself working on pad drills, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look. McGregor captioned the post with a clear statement of intent: “I’m coming back to do what I do. Knock people out for my money.”

Potential Opponents for Conor McGregor’s Return

Should Conor McGregor indeed return to the octagon in 2026, several exciting potential opponents are already on the radar, many of whom have expressed a desire to face the Irish fighter.

Former champion Max Holloway has indicated his interest in a rematch with McGregor and is even willing to move up to the 170-pound division to make it happen.

The BMF titleholder, Charles Oliveira, would also welcome a bout against McGregor. Beyond Holloway and Oliveira, a trilogy fight with Nate Diaz remains a highly anticipated prospect for many fans.

Paddy Pimblett, who is aiming to fight in July, could also emerge as a potential opponent. Furthermore, if Michael Chandler defeats Mauricio Ruffy on June 14th, ends his losing streak, and once again calls out McGregor, especially if he is willing to fight again within four weeks, this could be the perfect matchup to conclude the TUF 31 narrative.
