UFC Flyweight Alibi Idiris Suspended One Year, Win Overturned After Failed Drug Test
UFC flyweight Alibi Idiris has been handed a one-year suspension for violating the promotion's anti-doping policy. The ruling, announced by Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD), stems from a positive test for a prohibited substance, making his return to the Octagon unavailable until 2027.
Idiris tested positive for hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic and masking agent, from an in-competition sample collected on February 21, 2026. This test followed his unanimous decision victory against Ode Osbourne at UFC Houston. Although the 31-year-old Kazakh fighter admitted to using the substance during his weight cut, CSAD maintained the full one-year penalty, emphasizing the severity of knowingly using a diuretic during fight week and the competitive advantage gained. The suspension is retroactive, making him ineligible to compete until February 21, 2027.
In addition to the suspension, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) has officially overturned Idiris's win over Ode Osbourne to a no-contest, as the substance is also prohibited under state regulations.
Alibi Idiris's UFC Journey
Alibi Idiris earned his spot in the UFC through Season 33 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), where he competed on Team Cormier. His path included victories over Furkatbek Yokubov and Roybert Echeverria before a submission loss to Joseph Morales in the TUF 33 finale. Despite the final setback, his performance secured him a UFC contract, leading to his now-overturned fight against Osbourne.
His professional record now stands at 11-1 with one no contest, including six knockout wins.
