Former UFC champion Aljamain Sterling has offered his perspective on Israel Adesanya's recent four-fight losing streak. Adesanya suffered his fourth consecutive defeat in mixed martial arts last weekend, losing by TKO to Joe Pyfer. This marks his third straight loss by finish, prompting widespread speculation about a potential retirement.

While Adesanya himself has stated he isn't considering retirement at this time, legitimate concerns about his performance persist. Aljamain Sterling recently joined the growing number of fighters weighing in on Adesanya's current situation.

Commenting on his YouTube channel, Sterling noted, "Izzy consistently wins these fights, and then somehow, he doesn't." He added, "He can still compete. However, I believe a few things have changed for Izzy. The most prominent change, in my opinion, is his reflexes. I simply don't think his reaction time is as sharp or as quick as it once was."

Sterling was careful not to diminish Joe Pyfer's victory, stating, "I don’t want to take anything away from Joe Pyfer; I thought he fought very well. Despite a challenging start, Pyfer managed to lure Izzy into fighting on his terms. Once he achieved that, he was able to close the distance, secure a takedown, and deliver the finishing blows."

He continued, noting Pyfer was "the bigger, stronger guy," and acknowledged, "Izzy defended well. I believed if he had maintained distance, which he executed skillfully in the first round, he honestly could have sustained that for five rounds if his cardio permitted. But for some reason, he opted to change tactics and engage in striking exchanges. The fight transitioned from long-range to very close quarters—precisely where Pyfer wanted it. While Izzy evaded a couple of significant shots, I thought he looked exceptionally good in the first round, right up until the second."
