Mike Perry is set to return to mixed martial arts as Netflix ventures into the MMA landscape. A fellow Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) competitor, Doug Coltrane, has expressed his strong opinion that the upcoming clash between Perry and Nate Diaz is a more compelling event than the UFC Freedom 250 card. Coltrane shared these insights during a recent interview on Bare Knuckle Bowker, shortly before his own first-round victory over former UFC fighter Maki Pitolo at BKFC Honolulu on April 11th.
Previously, while preparing to challenge for the BKFC middleweight title against David Mundell, Coltrane had indicated a desire to face Mike Perry should he win. Now, with Perry confirmed to fight Nate Diaz on the new Netflix MMA event, Coltrane offered his perspective on this significant matchup.
Speaking about the fight, Coltrane stated, “Personally, I don’t really have a strong feeling about the fight itself. I think it’s a good matchup for both fighters, and they’ll both earn good money. I’m a big fan of Nate; everyone is. He’s always been one of my favorites. However, at some point, you don’t want to see your favorite fighters continue to take damage. But I give them both a lot of credit for stepping up.”
Coltrane elaborated on his preference, comparing the Netflix event to the upcoming UFC Freedom 250 card, scheduled for June. “I’ll definitely be watching the fight. Frankly, I’m more excited about that card than the White House card. There are certainly some fights on the White House card that are interesting, but to be honest, I’m leaning towards the Netflix card at the moment.”
