Conor McGregor, the former two-division UFC champion, is reportedly aiming for a period of consistent activity in the octagon following his highly anticipated rematch against Max Holloway. McGregor is set to make his return in the main event of UFC 329, a five-round welterweight bout.
This fight marks McGregor’s first in five years. Following the bout with Holloway, it is understood that McGregor will have one fight remaining on his current contract. While the specifics of a potential new multi-fight deal with the UFC, especially in light of the promotion’s recent Paramount deal, remain unconfirmed, McGregor has indicated satisfaction with a recent contract offer, stating he feels more motivated than ever.
“I’ve got a great deal off the UFC. They honored me, finally,” McGregor commented recently on the upcoming rematch.
McGregor’s manager, Audie Attar, has expressed confidence that “The Notorious” intends to maintain an active fighting schedule. Attar suggested that McGregor will not take a year-long hiatus after his UFC 329 appearance. “He’s [Conor McGregor] looking to stay active. This is the new season… The next fight [after Holloway], we’re not gonna wait a year. That’s for sure,” Attar stated in a recent interview.
Should McGregor return successfully, several compelling fight opportunities are already on the horizon. Ilia Topuria has publicly expressed interest in facing McGregor, and Michael Chandler continues to hope for a showdown with the Irish superstar. Furthermore, a potential blockbuster fight between McGregor and Islam Makhachev is a possibility that could be one of the most significant events in MMA history if materialized.
