Victor Wembanyama Named to All-NBA First Team

Sports News

Victor Wembanyama has earned his first-ever All-NBA selection, being named to the All-NBA First Team. This marks a significant achievement for the French center, who becomes the first San Antonio Spurs player to be recognized on the First Team since the 2016-17 season. He now joins an illustrious group of five Spurs franchise players who have been honored with a spot on the All-NBA First Team.

The 2025-26 Defensive Player of the Year, and the league’s leading shot-blocker, showcased an exceptional performance over 64 games this season. Wembanyama recorded career-best averages of 25.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per contest. He also contributed 3.1 assists, a league-leading 3.08 blocks, and 1.03 steals in just 29.2 minutes of playing time per game.

His remarkable season has placed him in rare company, as he is only the seventh player in NBA history to average at least 25.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 3.00 blocks in a single season. Wembanyama led his team in scoring 39 times, in rebounds 49 times, in steals 17 times, and in blocks in an impressive 56 games, setting a team record.

Beyond his All-NBA recognition, Wembanyama also received his second consecutive NBA All-Star Game selection in 2026, this time as a starter. He is now the sixth player in franchise history to start in an All-Star Game, standing alongside such notable names as George Gervin, Alvin Robertson, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, and Kawhi Leonard.
