Nanterre has caught up! After a late collapse two days ago, the Île-de-France team inflicted the same fate on AS Monaco this Wednesday, winning with a score of 89-98. Julien Mahé’s squad concluded this second encounter with an impressive 19-4 run in the final 4 minutes of the game, securing a razor-thin victory (85-79 at the 36th minute, 89-98 at the 40th minute).
Dominating on the boards, highlighted by Mitchell Saxen’s significant haul (10 points, 15 rebounds), and a strong effort from Hugo Yimga-Moukouri (15 points, 8 rebounds), Nanterre demonstrated a superb team spirit, even after trailing by as many as 12 points at Gaston-Médecin.
Despite the loss, there’s not much to criticize for the current French vice-champions. Élie Okobo was excellent (23 points, 8 assists), and their three-point shooting was on point (12/22). However, the fatigue from Monaco’s tight rotation proved too difficult to overcome.
The Roca Team players will be looking to bounce back immediately this Saturday, in Game 3, which will take place in Nanterre.
