William Dumas: HTV Will Improve, Not Become “New Money”

Sports News

The HTV basketball club, having finished the Elite 2 season with a balanced record of 19 wins and 19 losses, securing 12th place, is set to welcome American investors from the financial sector. These investors have interests in sports, entertainment, communication, and gaming.

Despite these new financial backing, General Manager William Dumas emphasizes a pragmatic approach. He stated, “We will be better, but not the ‘new money’ either. It won’t be like Orléans, where investors plan to inject six million euros over five years. We will proceed step by step, with a coherent and structured project. I never say we want to be promoted, but the goal will be to make the playoffs every year. We are building a more competitive team, and if everything materializes, we won’t be able to hide.”

Regarding team recruitment, Dumas provided an update. He indicated a strong likelihood of retaining John Roberson and Moses Greenwood. The team plans to “slightly rejuvenate” its roster, acknowledging the rising salaries of French players due to the exodus to the NCAA. While efforts were made to keep Nikola Knezevic, he has opted to join Gries-Souffel. The interior sector will see several departures, including Florian Pouaveyoun, Jito Kok, and Victor Diallo. The backcourt situation is still under discussion, with disagreements on whether to keep Maxim Eugene.

William Dumas, GM of HTV: “We Will Be Better, But Not the ‘New Money'”

With a balanced record of 19 wins and as many losses, HTV finished 12th in Elite 2. The club is now seeing the arrival of American investors from the financial sector, with interests in sports, entertainment, communication, and gaming. However, according to William Dumas, this won’t lead to a complete overhaul.

“We will be better, but not the ‘new money’ either. It won’t be like Orléans, where investors plan to inject six million euros over five years. We will proceed step by step, with a coherent and structured project. I never say I want to be promoted, but the objective will be to make the playoffs every year. We are building a more competitive team, and if everything materializes, we won’t be able to hide too much,” he stated in the daily newspaper.

Where does HTV stand in its recruitment?

“I can’t say too much. There’s a high chance John Roberson and Moses Greenwood will continue. We will rejuvenate a bit, although with the exodus to the NCAA and French player salaries, it’s becoming crazy! Otherwise, we did our best to keep Nikola Knezevic, but he chose to join Gries-Souffel. And in the interior sector, we have several departures (Florian Pouaveyoun, Jito Kok, Victor Diallo). In the backcourt, we haven’t all agreed yet (particularly on whether to keep Maxim Eugene, editor’s note).”
