Two Valencia Guards Set to Join Greek Teams

Sports News

Valencia, a team often compared to last year’s Paris Basketball for its playing style and strong results, is likely to experience a wave of player departures this summer, much like the French club did after its successful Euroleague season.

The most sought-after player from Pedro Martinez’s squad is undoubtedly Jean Montero. A starter and the Euroleague’s Rising Star of the season, the Dominican player has consistently impressed. He was also named MVP of the competition’s playoffs, leading Valencia to a five-game victory over Panathinaikos and securing their first-ever Final Four appearance.

While Montero is eager to join the NBA, he has reportedly given his approval to Olympiacos should his primary goal not materialize. This is excellent news for the Piraeus club, who just won the Euroleague title. Olympiacos would thus beat out Hapoel Tel Aviv and their rival Panathinaikos, who had apparently offered the young point guard the freedom to set his own salary.

Montero Likely Not to Leave Alone

This would undoubtedly be a significant blow to the Spanish team. Furthermore, Brancou Badio, the hero of the decisive Game 5 against Panathinaikos with 20 points, is also reportedly on the radar of the Athenian club. According to Alessandro Maggi, discussions have already begun between the Greek management and the Senegalese guard.
