Justin Robinson: "Being There in Big Moments is How I Was Raised"
In an exclusive post-game interview, Justin Robinson shared his thoughts following Paris Basketball's hard-fought victory.
Question: Good evening, Justin. How do you feel after this fiercely contested win?
Answer: A victory always feels great. Personally, I'm thrilled to have made some crucial shots because it highlights the player I'm becoming. I started slowly, with only two points at halftime, so hitting those two big shots and securing the win definitely makes me happy.
Question: Your team struggled early, particularly from beyond the arc, yet you never stopped shooting. What does this reveal about your mentality?
Answer: We all have immense trust in each other. My teammates did an excellent job finding me in good spots late in the game. We truly rely on everyone, no matter the situation. In fact, I told Nadir [Hifi] after the game that he'd bounce back strong next time. That's the mentality that defines us, both as individuals and as a team.
Question: Still on the collective effort, you had one of your worst first halves of the season. What adjustments allowed you to return stronger after the break?
Answer: We simply needed to stay true to ourselves, to remain solid. We knew our first half wasn't great, yet we weren't significantly behind. Even if the deficit had been larger, we would have continued to execute what we know how to do. That's what we train for.
Question: Similar to the Panathinaikos game, you were the one who sealed the deal at the end of the match. What gives you such confidence in these critical moments?
Answer: It's just who I am. Being present and stepping up in big moments is how my parents raised me. I love those kinds of shots. I missed one earlier in the season against Bayern, but they've been falling lately. My teammates and the coaching staff continue to believe in me in these situations, and I'm very grateful for that.
Question: After three consecutive road victories, you suffered a home defeat against Olympiakos (87-104) on Tuesday. How satisfying was it to deliver a win to your fans tonight?
Answer: We always want to win at home. We're especially grateful to our fans for their unwavering loyalty, coming to support us through thick and thin. We've lost some close games, and they still turn up. The atmosphere is always electric when we play at home. It's a huge advantage for us to hear them cheering and trying to distract the opposing team.
Question: After more than half of your first Euroleague season, what can you tell us about your adaptation to this new environment?
Answer: I'm proud of myself. There have been ups and downs, but I'm satisfied with my progress. I'm happy to be in this situation, spending my days with these guys. I'm ready for what lies ahead for the rest of the season; I want us to finish strong.
