Jamie Vardy Reportedly Seeks Shock Premier League Transfer After Confirming Leicester Exit

Football News

Jamie Vardy is reportedly confident he can continue playing in the Premier League and is unwilling to move down to the Championship.

The 38-year-old recently confirmed his departure from Leicester City after a 13-year tenure, following the Foxes` disappointing relegation from the top flight.

The striker described the past season as a “s***show” before announcing his departure in an emotional farewell message.

Leicester`s fate was sealed when they failed to beat champions Liverpool at home.

During his time at the King Power Stadium, Vardy was a key part of the team that famously won the Premier League title in the 2015-16 season. His personal accolades included winning the Player of the Season award and being named in the PFA Team of the Year.

He also claimed the Premier League Golden Boot in the 2019-20 season, finishing with 23 goals, one ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

This season, Vardy scored seven goals in 32 appearances for Leicester.

There had been previous speculation linking him with a move to Wrexham, humorously dubbed “the most obvious transfer of all time.”

However, reports from Sky Sports indicate that Vardy is eager to remain in the top flight and does not wish to drop down to the second tier. He has also been linked with a transfer to Major League Soccer (MLS). Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp suggested that if Vardy were to join Wrexham, the club co-owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, his goals could potentially fire the Welsh side into the Premier League.

Wrexham recently achieved promotion to the Championship after a 3-0 victory over Charlton Athletic at the Racecourse Ground.

A potential fairytale return to his boyhood club, Sheffield Wednesday, has also been rumoured.

Vardy, who earned 26 caps for England and scored seven international goals, is expected to begin the search for his new club once the current league season concludes.
