Good news for Nancy! Despite Martin Breunig’s departure early in the season and the announcement of Mohammad Amini’s presentation at the upcoming NBA Draft, SLUC will still be able to rely on continuity in its interior game. This Thursday, the club officially confirmed the contract extension of their pivot, Isaiah Cozart, for the next season.
In his second professional season, the American has established himself as a key player for Nancy. Averaging 6.8 points and 6.2 rebounds with an impressive nearly 60% field goal percentage, the big man, at 25 years old, still has significant room for improvement.
Nancy’s coach, Sylvain Lautié, expressed his delight: “I am very happy with Isaiah’s re-signing for next season. He is a player who is constantly progressing, and his development was evident throughout the season. We saw, game after game, how well the partnership with Stéphane [Gombaud] works. Their complementarity is real. Isaiah is an impactful player on both ends of the court. Offensively, he puts defenses under pressure, especially on the pick and roll where he can force the entire opposing block to retreat. Defensively, he brings presence and a lot of activity. He is also an unselfish and patient player with genuine room for growth. I am convinced he is capable of reaching a new level. The Isaiah of next season will not be the same as this season.”
