Roanne, on the verge of securing the Élite 2 championship title and a promotion back to the Betclic Élite league, has received a significant setback. The club announced on Wednesday that their forward, Florian Léopold, has sustained a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Léopold, who averaged 7.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game this season, will be a considerable loss in the paint for his team for the remainder of the season. Despite the injury, Roanne expressed optimism in a statement, noting that the center will be treated by “the same surgeon who treated Maxime Roos for a similar injury in 2023,” who has since made a full recovery.
