Following another challenging season, Limoges is preparing for significant changes this summer. A primary objective is to find a successor for coach Dario Gjergja, who, despite an earlier season extension, was dismissed due to the team’s poor performance. According to reports from Le Populaire du Centre, the CSP leadership is keen on attracting Pierric Poupet to take the helm.
While Arnaud Tessier has shown promising early results, Limoges is seeking a more experienced coach to definitively turn the team’s fortunes around. Poupet, who has been with ASVEL for two years, is reportedly the preferred choice of the Limoges management. Despite his young age of 41, the former point guard has consistently exceeded expectations, even as the Villeurbanne club’s resources have diminished.
Other French Clubs Show Interest
With his contract at ASVEL expiring at the end of the current season, and potentially influenced by Tony Parker’s own coaching aspirations, Poupet is not only on Limoges’ radar. Chalon is also monitoring the situation, should Elric Delord depart, and Orléans sees him as a coach capable of guiding their club back to the elite level of French basketball.
