Emotional Ronaldo visibly upset after Al-Nassr’s cup exit

Cristiano Ronaldo was visibly emotional, fighting back tears and repeatedly shrugging, appearing to argue with himself after Al-Nassr`s cup aspirations were ended by a Japanese team.

Ronaldo`s wealthy Saudi club, Al-Nassr, faced Kawasaki in the AFC Champions League semi-finals.

Al-Nassr features a squad with notable players, including former Liverpool star Sadio Mane and ex-Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran.

Despite dominating with 21 shots and 75% possession, Ronaldo`s side suffered a 3-2 defeat against their opponents.

This defeat means he is likely to finish the season without a major trophy, as Al-Nassr is currently third in the Saudi Pro League and has also been eliminated from the King`s Cup.

The 40-year-old Ronaldo has only won one trophy since joining Al-Nassr in December 2022 after leaving Manchester United: the Arab Club Champions Cup eight months later.

After seeing his latest silverware hopes vanish, Ronaldo was left repeatedly shrugging on the pitch while fighting back the tears.

He even appeared to have an argument with himself as the Portugal legend replayed several missed chances in his head.

But Ronaldo, who has scored 97 goals in 108 games for Al-Nassr, vowed to keep his head held high afterwards.

Posting on social media, Ronaldo declared: “Sometimes the dream has to wait.”

Fans showed their support for the icon

“I’m proud of this team and everything we gave on the pitch.

“Thank you to all the fans who believed in us and stood by us every step of the way.

“Your support means the world.”

However, fans were quick to offer Ronaldo their support.

One fan commented: “Even when the dream waits, legends never stop. You didn’t just play, you inspired. Respect, GOAT.”

Another stated: “You are the best, my commander.”

Another user noted: “Proud of you always.”

And another added: “It’s not your fault, we will come back strong.”
