WNBA: Nell Angloma Debuts in A’ja Wilson’s 45-Point Masterclass

She made 15 of her 18 field goal attempts and converted all 13 of her free throws, accumulating a remarkable 45 points. This scoring outburst marks her fifth career 40-point game, a WNBA record. Notably, Wilson is the sole player in WNBA history to achieve 45 or more points with at least an 80% field goal shooting percentage.

Making her WNBA debut, Nell Angloma, a 1.85m player who will turn 20 on June 12th, played 13 minutes and 33 seconds. She contributed 7 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field and 1-of-2 from the free-throw line. Angloma also recorded 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 1 turnover in her first professional outing.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, prior to Nell Angloma’s entry into the game on Thursday evening, 51 players born outside the United States had participated in at least one game this season. This figure establishes a new single-season record for the league, surpassing the previous benchmark of 50 set in 2001. Following the games on Thursday, five of the league’s 32 players averaging at least 15 points per game are French.
