Tai Tuivasa Acknowledges High Stakes Ahead of UFC Perth: “My Fu*king Ass Is On The Line”

Tai Tuivasa is entering his upcoming fight with his future hanging in the balance. The heavyweight contender is scheduled to face Louie Sutherland at UFC Perth this Saturday at the RAC Arena, competing in front of his home crowd in Western Australia. Originally, Tuivasa was set to fight Sean Sharaf, but that matchup was canceled when Sharaf withdrew due to a broken nose.

The 33-year-old Australian is currently experiencing the most challenging period of his career, having suffered six consecutive losses. This fight represents a critical, must-win situation for Tuivasa, with significant consequences for his career.

Tai Tuivasa Opens Up About Career Pressure Before UFC Perth

During a media day event for UFC Perth, Tai Tuivasa spoke candidly about his recent performance struggles. He admitted that he understands the gravity of the current situation but expressed confidence in his ability to rebound in this upcoming bout.

“Definitely, my fu*king ass is on the line,” Tuivasa stated. “It’s probably been on the line a lot of the time, but I fu*king put asses in the seats, so it is what it is. I feel good, and I’m going to go out there and do what ‘Bam Bam’ does — in ‘Bam Bam’ style. And not fu*king lose, d*ckheads.”

Tuivasa also confessed that enduring such a prolonged losing streak has been difficult to handle.

“It gets sh*tter the more you lose, that is for sure. When you get beat six times, come on — I mean, I’m competing at the top level, but it is still a sh*t feeling. I laid my grave, and I have to lie in it. It is what it is. I’ve put the work in, and I’ve got to go out and do my thing.”

Tuivasa’s most recent outing was at UFC 325, where he lost a unanimous decision to Tallison Teixeira. His last victory occurred at UFC 271 in February 2022, when he knocked out Derrick Lewis in the first round. Since that win, Tuivasa, an Australian heavyweight, has endured a six-fight losing streak. His current UFC record stands at 8-9, with an overall professional record of 15-9. His notable wins include victories over Greg Hardy, Augusto Sakai, and Stefan Struve.
