Olympic champions Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe, who have collectively won numerous gold medals, have publicly announced their decision to separate. The news was shared through a joint message on Instagram.
Their statement conveyed, “There is no simple or easy way to share this news. After much reflection, we have made the decision to go our separate ways. This is not a decision that was made lightly, but it is one we made together with love, respect, and a deep appreciation for each other. We have shared a lifetime of memories over the past decade, through the highs and the lows, and that is something we will always cherish.”
The couple, whose relationship began after meeting at the 2016 Rio Olympics, officially confirmed their partnership in July 2017. They had previously announced their engagement in October 2020.
