Elite 2 : Jahvon Blair Indisponible, Roanne Recrute Latrell Reid
Elite 2: Jahvon Blair Sidelined, Roanne Recruits Latrell Reid
The Roanne team in Elite 2 is facing a significant setback as Canadian international Jahvon Blair, who previously suffered a shoulder injury earlier in the season, incurred the same injury during practice last week. Further medical examinations have unfortunately indicated that he will be unavailable for the remainder of the season. This is a major blow for the team, as Blair was the league's second-leading scorer, averaging 18.0 points per game, just behind John Roberson of Hyères Toulon (18.4 points).
To address this absence, Roanne has signed Latrell Reid. Reid began his season in Europe, playing in Portugal for Esgueira, where he performed exceptionally well for several months, posting averages of 18.3 points (shooting 35% from three-point range) and 9.7 assists per game. Earlier this year, he joined the Israeli league with Ashkelon, where he recorded 11 points and 5 assists per game across 7 appearances. However, the conflict in the Middle East led to the suspension of the league, thus releasing him from his contract.
Zoran Cvjetkovic, the sports director, stated: "This is not about replacing Jahvon Blair; we all know his importance and what he represents for our team. Replacing a player of his caliber is simply impossible at this point in the season. The idea was rather to bring in a different profile to strengthen our rotation during this final stretch. We opted for Latrell Reid, a combo guard who will offer an additional option to T.J., particularly through his defensive intensity and court vision, which gives him excellent passing ability. The goal was not to disrupt our balance. We have a strong, performing team in place. The idea is simply to add a piece that naturally integrates into the group and helps us achieve our goal."
