Aaron Towo-Nansi Hails Cholet's Decisive Victory Over ASVEL: "We Suffocated Them and Were Rewarded"
La Meilleraie, the home court of Cholet Basket, was electric during their commanding victory over ASVEL. Facing a fatigued ASVEL team playing its third game of the week (all losses), Cholet's players were supercharged by the fervent atmosphere, pouring all their energy into the battle. Among them, 17-year-old Aaron Towo-Nansi, who turned 17 on March 4th, delivered a standout performance with 9 points and 2 assists in just 19 minutes on the court.
Gérald Ayayi was the undeniable MVP of the match, tallying an impressive 22 points and an efficiency rating of 26. Cholet's suffocating defense was a key factor, forcing ASVEL to commit 18 turnovers throughout the game.
Cholet coach Fabrice Lefrançois underscored the significance of their position: "With six games left, we are still competing alongside Euroleague teams and strong organizations like Le Mans or Bourg. We shouldn't take that for granted."
Speaking after the impressive win, Aaron Towo-Nansi shared his thoughts:
"It's not necessarily this specific team that we consistently succeed against; it's the intensity we bring to the court. This is the third time, but our focus isn't solely on them. However, they are a Euroleague team, so perhaps that also serves as a motivator for us. We truly suffocated them defensively, and we were well rewarded for that effort. We maintained control of the game for all 40 minutes, always staying ahead. We remained clear-headed and stayed in command throughout. We also excelled in rebounding, showing significant improvement compared to our game in Strasbourg, and that effort also paid off."
Looking ahead, both teams face important fixtures in the next round: Cholet will visit Le Mans at Antarès, while ASVEL will host Chalon at the Colisée.
