Après avoir joué pour Stanford, California et Illinois (où il a cumulé 13,5 points et 4,5 rebonds en tant que junior), il fait l’objet de convoitises de la part de la Serbie et de la Grèce.
« Je rencontrerai les deux sélections nationales. Si j’estime être prêt à prendre la bonne décision, je la prendrai prochainement. Sinon, je continuerai d’attendre, » a-t-il indiqué. « Je sais qu’il y a des qualifications cet été et que la Grèce et la Serbie sont intéressées par mon intégration dans leurs équipes. Mais si je dois choisir entre rester en NCAA ou jouer en NBA, cela signifie que je dois me concentrer sur mon développement et ma progression plutôt que de jouer pour une équipe nationale pour le moment. Je prendrai ma décision à ce moment-là. »
Serbia or Greece: Andrej Stojakovic Has Not Yet Made His Choice
Andrej Stojakovic, born in California and thus also an American citizen, is the son of former Serbian star Peja Stojakovic and a Greek mother. After playing for Stanford, California, and Illinois (where he averaged 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds as a junior), he is being courted by both Serbia and Greece.
“I will meet with both national teams. If I feel I am ready to make the right decision, I will make it soon. Otherwise, I will continue to wait,” he stated. “I know there are qualifiers this summer and that Greece and Serbia are interested in me joining their teams. But if I have to choose between staying in the NCAA or playing in the NBA, it means I have to focus on my development and progression rather than playing for a national team at the moment. I will make my decision at that time.”
