Reports suggest that Manchester City`s prominent goalkeeper, Ederson, has a significant possibility of departing the club this summer. This comes just one year after a highly profitable transfer to Saudi Arabia fell through.
The 31-year-old was reportedly close to leaving City in 2024 following strong interest from the Middle East, shortly after securing his sixth Premier League title with the club.
He was offered a substantial weekly salary of £900,000 to move from the Etihad Stadium but ultimately remained in Manchester, choosing not to dismiss the transfer rumours at the time.
However, football journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that clubs in Saudi Arabia have reignited their interest in the Brazilian international.
Sources indicate that Ederson might finally make the move for a new financial opportunity, with manager Pep Guardiola reportedly willing to sanction his departure.
The goalkeeper, who was part of City`s 2023 Treble-winning squad, has only featured in 22 Premier League matches this season, which is his lowest appearance total since joining the club.
Ederson recently missed City`s last three fixtures, including their FA Cup semi-final victory, after sustaining an unspecified injury during the match against Crystal Palace over two weeks ago.
His current contract with Manchester City is valued at £180,000 per week and is set to run until 2026.
Given that backup goalkeeper Stefan Ortega has performed capably when called upon, Ederson could potentially become another high-profile player to leave Manchester City, following recent departures and squad changes.
