Inter Milan Demands €70-80M for Bastoni Amid Barcelona Links
Contrary to recent reports from Spain, Inter Milan and Barcelona are not currently engaged in transfer negotiations for defender Alessandro Bastoni. However, an exit for Bastoni remains a possibility, as the Nerazzurri could leverage his sale to generate significant profit and fund several new player acquisitions, according to insights from La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Serie A leaders would seriously consider parting ways with the talented defender if they receive offers in the region of €70 to €80 million. Inter is firm on not accepting player exchanges or makeweights as part of any deal. While Gerard Martin has been mentioned in transfer rumors concerning such arrangements, Inter officials do not hold him in high regard.
Inter is reportedly looking to cash in on Bastoni to finance their summer transfer activities. The club has ambitious and costly targets on its radar, including Manu Koné, valued at €40-50 million, and Guglielmo Vicario. Regarding a potential replacement for Bastoni, Inter has re-established contact with the entourage of Oumar Solet, who was previously a priority target, and is also monitoring Tarik Muharemovic.
Fabrizio Romano, citing SOSFanta, indicates that a €50 million offer would be insufficient to persuade Inter to sell Bastoni. Separately, Nicolò Barella, despite facing some scrutiny and being linked to other clubs following a somewhat inconsistent season, has seen no significant transfer market activity. Newcastle United had shown interest in him before ultimately signing Sandro Tonali. Although Saudi Pro League clubs have frequently pursued Barella, he has consistently rejected any potential moves to that destination.
Our Assessment on Inter, Barcelona, and Bastoni
Speculation surrounding Bastoni's potential departure appears more substantial than in previous periods. Considering the fees paid for other central defenders in recent transfer windows—even those who are older or less prominent—Inter's valuation of Bastoni does not seem entirely unreasonable. Nevertheless, the substantial funds required to meet such a price tag are more commonly found within the Premier League market.
