Dustin Poirier, a prominent figure in the lightweight division, revealed he was interested in a fight against former featherweight champion Ilia Topuria, particularly if Topuria were to transition to the 155-pound category.
Speaking on the possibility, Poirier shared:
“Was I offered a fight with Topuria? No. When he stated he was moving to the 70 kg category [lightweight], I wrote to the UFC: `Hey, what`s up? Let me know what`s going on with this guy at 70 kg.` But they didn`t pay attention to it. I was told that it wouldn`t happen.”
