Drew Dober Hopes to Continue Making Lightweight KO History at UFC 326

MMA News

UFC veteran Drew Dober is set to return at UFC 326 this weekend, aiming to further cement his legacy in the lightweight division. He faces Michael Johnson in what promises to be an exciting clash between two seasoned fighters. Anticipated as a high-octane brawl, fans are eager to see if one of these knockout artists will finish the fight early.

While Dober is confident, Johnson has shown renewed form, extending his career with impressive performances. Dober, however, has a diverse arsenal and is prepared to deliver an entertaining bout. He recently highlighted his current record of 10 lightweight knockouts, the most in UFC history for the division.

Drew Dober Aims for More Knockouts

Speaking at Wednesday’s media day, Dober expressed his enthusiasm for the matchup: “It was inevitable. We were going to fight each other. We talked about it years ago and why it hasn’t happened. The stars lined up. His fight fell through, and now he became available. I was looking for something. Paramount is blessing us with this opportunity. So, I’m glad it’s happening now and not earlier, and I honestly think I get the best version of MJ in this fight.”

Reflecting on his impressive knockout record, Dober joked about his future goals, aiming to surpass the current record holder: “I think I have six more in me. I just saw the grid of how all that plays out. Matt Brown has what, 13? It’s fun to think about. The fact that I was a part of that conversation has just dumbfounded me, and I cherish it. I’m not aiming for any long goals, but I’m planning on knocking out MJ and continuing it.”

Dober is determined to make a significant statement in this fight, proving his continued elite status. However, he acknowledges the danger of underestimating Michael Johnson, a mistake many have made before.
