UFC welterweight Jack Della Maddalena recently spoke about his strategic approach for his scheduled bout against Belal Muhammad.
Detailing his mindset, Maddalena explained, “Clearly, my primary line of defense must be stopping his takedown attempts. I am confident in my ability to do that. The more I can prevent him from taking me down, the simpler the fight will become for me. However, I am also fully prepared to work from my back if necessary. I plan to be offensive even from that position. I believe I have specific techniques to help me return to a standing position. Ultimately, I prefer to fight upright, but achieving that requires successfully defending takedowns to make things easier on myself.”
