Darnell Nurse Requests Trade, Cale Makar Extension Priority, Senators’ Interest in McTavish

NHL News

Darnell Nurse has reportedly approached the Edmonton Oilers management, expressing his desire for a trade and indicating that it’s time for him to move on. Nurse, who possesses a full no-movement clause until July 1st, 2027, has also provided the Oilers with a list of 3-5 teams he would consider for a deal.

Colorado Avalanche GM Joe Sakic has emphasized the significant priority of securing a contract extension for defenseman Cale Makar. Sakic stated that extending Makar is “pretty big” and expressed confidence that Makar will conclude his career with the Avalanche, noting that initial discussions with Makar’s agent have been positive and that they are “on the same page.”

Reports suggest that the Ottawa Senators have expressed interest in acquiring forwards Mason McTavish from the Anaheim Ducks and Jordan Kyrou from the St. Louis Blues. However, it is understood that Kyrou, who has a no-movement clause, may not be willing to waive it to join Ottawa. The Ducks are believed to be seeking a first-round pick and immediate help in exchange for McTavish, whose father serves as a pro scout for the Senators. Additionally, Jared McCann of the Seattle Kraken, entering the final year of his contract at $5 million, might become available.
