Charles Oliveira, the newly crowned UFC BMF champion, has officially agreed to an eight-fight contract with the UFC. The 36-year-old Brazilian fighter recently captured the BMF title by defeating Max Holloway at UFC 326. Oliveira is now setting his sights on regaining the lightweight championship and is currently ranked as the No. 3 contender in the division.
His path to reclaiming gold previously saw him face Ilia Topuria for the vacant lightweight title at UFC 317, a bout he lost via first-round knockout. However, Oliveira quickly rebounded from that setback with a submission victory over Mateusz Gamrot, followed by a unanimous decision win against Max Holloway in their rematch.
At 36 years old, Oliveira is determined to once again hold the UFC lightweight strap. His team has unequivocally stated that he has no immediate plans to retire.
Details of Charles Oliveira’s New UFC Deal
In a recent interview with Ag. Fight, Oliveira’s coach, Diego Lima, revealed that his fighter has signed a new eight-fight contract with the UFC. Lima indicated that this deal allows Oliveira to compete for at least the next four years.
“It was a wonderful deal. There’s not a single bad thing to say; it was an incredible deal. We’ve got fights lined up until Charles is 40 years old. So for those people who were saying he was going to retire, just wait a bit longer.”
Oliveira has expressed interest in defending his BMF title against Conor McGregor, who is rumored to be returning in July during International Fight Week. However, there has been no official announcement regarding Oliveira’s next fight or opponent.
