A true icon of women’s basketball is hanging up her sneakers. After an illustrious career spanning over fifteen years on professional courts, Tina Charles announced on her social media channels this Tuesday that she is retiring from professional play. Her career is considered one of the most impactful in the history of the sport.
Charles played for teams in Krakow and Fenerbahçe, where she notably clinched the European SuperCup in 2024 under the guidance of Valérie Garnier. During her time at Fenerbahçe, she played alongside French players Gabby Williams and Marième Badiane. Acknowledged as MVP in 2012 and an 8-time All-Star, the WNBA championship title is the only major accolade missing from her impressive resume.
Her achievements on the international stage are equally remarkable. Undefeated in official competitions, she secured three Olympic gold medals (London, Rio, Tokyo) and three World Cup titles (2010, 2014, 2018).
