Alex Pereira has indicated that Josh Hokit’s tenure with the UFC may be nearing its end. Hokit has been persistently provoking “Poatan” since the UFC Freedom 250 press conferences commenced. While Hokit has adopted a heel persona and made subtle jabs at Pereira, the Brazilian champion has largely refrained from reciprocating the provocations.
Pereira is focused on achieving a significant milestone: becoming the first fighter in the promotion’s history to hold championship belts in three different weight classes. He is set to face Ciryl Gane this weekend at UFC Freedom 250. If successful, Pereira will claim the interim heavyweight title. Meanwhile, Hokit, who has been making unprompted remarks about Pereira, is scheduled to fight Derrick Lewis.
Alex Pereira believes Josh Hokit has crossed a line with his taunts, including comments directed at Pereira’s mother. During media day, “Poatan” suggested that Hokit’s actions could endanger his position within the UFC. Pereira, 38, mentioned hearing rumors that Hokit might be cut from the UFC after the White House event. He stated:
“I’ve heard some things. I don’t know if he’s even going to be a part of this organization going forward. It may not even be worth talking about him because I don’t think he’s gonna be here. There’s a huge audience that watches the UFC. There are children, families, and a lot of the things he says and does are just very disrespectful.”
Josh Hokit Responds to Alex Pereira’s Claims
However, Josh Hokit appears to have more ambitious plans. He aims to deliver a dominant performance against “The Black Beast” and subsequently seek a fight with “Poatan.” Hokit quickly responded to Alex Pereira’s recent statements, which implied his imminent release from the UFC. The 28-year-old took to X to inform both Pereira and the fans that he has signed an eight-fight contract and intends to pursue Pereira.
“He might actually be a simpleton… I just signed an 8 fight deal… so You can run but you can’t hide 😉”
Hokit further responded to the suggestion that he might be cut, stating:
“I gave the UFC the greatest fight of all time so why would they cut me you idiot lol”
