On Monday, the Washington Wizards revealed their latest City Edition uniforms, paying homage to the team`s distinguished gold alternate design featured between 2006 and 2009.
Departing from a simple replication of the earlier all-gold attire, these new jerseys—set to debut on November 16th in a game against the Brooklyn Nets—incorporate a central black stripe and a white stripe positioned above the `Washington` text on the chest. These distinct features draw inspiration from the Wizards` 2021 `mixtape` City Edition design.
Further design elements include two black stripes detailing the neckline, shoulders, and jersey numbers, complemented by a black side panel on the shorts and a matching waistband.
Rebecca Winn, the Wizards` senior vice president of marketing, confirmed that a black-and-gold uniform combination has been a consistent request from both supporters and athletes ever since the City Edition uniform series commenced in 2017.
Winn stated in a press release, “When Nike challenged us to `remix` an existing City Edition uniform, our immediate focus turned to the revered classic Wizards uniform from 2006.”
A subtle silhouette of the Washington Monument is integrated within the `Washington` lettering on the chest. The belt buckle showcases a refreshed Wizards logo, while the D.C. hand logo, outlined in gold, is prominently placed on the right side.
Echoing the 2021 City Edition aesthetic, the `DMV` insignia—representing the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia region—is visible on the left side of the shorts. Notably, the 2021 uniform was the first instance of `DMV` being featured on any professional sports team uniform in the D.C. metropolitan area.
The team plans to wear these uniforms for 29 games throughout the 2025-26 season. Additionally, a complementary City Edition court design is expected to be revealed soon.
