French center Vincent Poirier, a significant force behind Anadolu Efes’ journey to the Euroleague playoffs and their near-upset against Panathinaikos last season, could soon be seeking a new team. According to reports from the Spanish sports outlet Encestando, the former Real Madrid player is no longer part of the Turkish club’s future strategies.
A recent injury sustained just weeks before the Euro, which subsequently sidelined him for the start of the season, likely influenced the Istanbul management’s decision. Despite this setback, Poirier’s talent remains highly regarded; his former teammate Elijah Bryant once cited him among the top five centers in the Euroleague. Should he become a free agent this summer, the Frenchman is expected to attract considerable interest from numerous clubs across Europe.
