Wemby bounced back strongly! Just 48 hours after his ejection in Game 4, the French phenom avoided suspension and delivered one of his best playoff performances to lead his Spurs to a decisive 127-96 victory over the Wolves, taking a 3-2 lead in the series.
True to form, Wembanyama was a force on both ends of the court, scoring 27 points on 9-of-16 shooting, grabbing 17 rebounds, dishing out 5 assists, and blocking 3 shots. He completely outplayed his compatriot and direct opponent Rudy Gobert, who had a less impactful game than usual (4 points, 5 rebounds). Coming off the bench, Sixth Man of the Year Keldon Johnson provided significant support for the Texans with 21 points.
With this win, the Spurs are now just one victory away from reaching the Western Conference Finals, an achievement they haven’t accomplished since the 2016/17 season. To secure their spot, “The Alien’s” teammates will travel to Minneapolis on Friday night. Should they win, they would face the Thunder, the league’s top team, in the conference finals.
