A seasoned UFC welterweight fighter, Tim Means, has been arrested in Tijeras, New Mexico, facing a charge of abandonment or abuse of a child. The arrest followed a report made by his 17-year-old daughter.
According to court records, the teenager contacted law enforcement after a verbal disagreement over household cleanliness allegedly escalated into a physical altercation. She claims that Means became aggressive, headbutted her, causing a nosebleed. It is also reported that he grabbed her by the throat, threw a potato at her face, and struck her in the head with a closed fist when she attempted to defend herself.
Visible marks on the teenager’s neck, consistent with strangulation, as well as blood around her nose and red marks on her face, were noted in the complaint. Means was released on his own recognizance on Friday, and the charge remains open.
Tim Means, known as “The Dirty Bird,” last competed in the UFC at UFC 307 in October 2024, where he lost by submission. The fighter, who also works as a wrestling coach, has had a difficult streak in his recent UFC appearances. He is one of the longest-tenured welterweight fighters in the UFC, with a significant number of fights and notable wins throughout his career.
