This week in WTA 125 tournaments, the top-seeded players dominated the singles competitions.

At the Puerto Vallarta Open in Mexico, Jaqueline Cristian of Romania, the No. 1 seed, secured the title. She defeated Linda Fruhvirtova of the Czech Republic in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, in the final match played on the hard court on Sunday.

Despite the straight-set victory, Cristian`s match against the 19-year-old Fruhvirtova lasted 2 hours and 12 minutes. Fruhvirtova had recently gained attention by reaching the third round of the Miami Open as a qualifier.

Cristian, aged 26, also had a strong showing at the Sunshine Double events earlier in the month, reaching the third round at Indian Wells. Currently ranked No. 72 in the world, she has been successful in her recent matches, winning eight out of her last ten, and is expected to reach a career-high ranking of No. 57 on Monday.

In the Puerto Vallarta Open doubles tournament, the American team of Hanna Chang and Christina McHale emerged victorious. They won against Maya Joint and Ena Shibahara with a score of 2-6, 6-2, [10-7]. McHale, a former Top 25 player, has recently returned to professional tennis after a two-year break.

Earlier on Sunday, Olga Danilovic of Serbia, the top seed, won the singles title at the Megasaray Hotels Open in Antalya, Turkey. This was the second WTA 125 event held in Antalya. Danilovic defeated Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva of Andorra in the final on clay, with a score of 6-2, 6-3.

Danilovic, 24 years old, is projected to achieve a new career-high ranking of No. 35 on Monday after her strong performance in the second of three WTA 125 events in Antalya over three weeks. Anca Todoni was the winner of the previous week`s tournament in Antalya.

Throughout this week`s tournament, Danilovic demonstrated dominance, not losing more than three games in any set. Her final match lasted 94 minutes. This victory marks her second WTA 125 singles title, matching her two WTA 250 singles titles.

The Antalya doubles title for this week was claimed by Maria Lourdes Carle of Argentina and Simona Waltert of Switzerland. They defeated Maja Chwalinska and Anastasia Detiuc with a score of 3-6, 7-5, [10-3] in the final played on Saturday. Chwalinska and Detiuc were the doubles champions in the Antalya event of the previous week.
