Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly on the brink of finalizing an agreement with Brentford for their manager, Thomas Frank.
According to high-level sources involved in the discussions, the potential switch is now considered “very close” to being officially agreed upon.
Spurs identified the Danish coach as their primary target to succeed Ange Postecoglou.
This development follows the dismissal of Australian manager Postecoglou, which occurred just 16 days after he led the club to Europa League success in Bilbao, ending their 17-year wait for a major trophy.
Frank has already given his personal approval for the move to Spurs; the only remaining hurdle is for the two clubs to come to a financial compensation agreement.
Brentford is understood to have a release clause for Frank written into his contract, believed to be valued at approximately £10 million.
Kieran McKenna, currently managing Ipswich Town, is expected to be among the leading candidates Brentford will consider as a potential replacement for Frank.
If Frank departs, it would bring an end to his nearly seven-year tenure with the Bees. During his time at the club, he guided them to promotion to the Premier League and achieved two top-half finishes, including in the most recent season.
However, sources indicate that McKenna is content in his current role at Ipswich and is focused on leading the club following their recent promotion to the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou has reportedly already attracted interest from other clubs since his abrupt departure from Spurs.
The former Celtic treble-winning manager is understood to have received approaches from teams both in England and on the European continent.
Currently spending time with his family, Postecoglou is reportedly not feeling any pressure to rush into a decision about his next managerial role.
Nevertheless, a swift return to management is not being ruled out, should the right opportunity arise for him.
